Data destruction should be more protected. QNAP failed to COPY files, but the second step of MOVE is DELETE and it did that anyway. If he had to this on any computer, this would not happen. I completely understand SupaMonkey's anger.

i opted for the more pricer 2 qnap units for a 1:1 ratio backup using a lan rtrr sync share folder method (1 way source to destination) manual not scheduled method. Maybe using recuva on your usb hdd for recovery MAY work, but i'm not sure.Īnyway i do recommend for the future to strongly have a backup option. Surely if something fails in the move, it should abort, hence leaving whats left at the source intact (at least, this is what windows does) instead of just carrying on and deleting the source files even though they werent moved to the destination successfully (at least, this is what appears to have happened). But I assumed in the 21st century, a simple 'move' operation wasnt rocket science. Call me stupid/a noob for "moving" instead of copying. When I come back to check hours later I see:ġ) A bunch of errors on QNAP (unfortunately I cant paste a copy of such an error because the NAS has restarted since and seems to have cleared the log since the restart). I saw the process was moving along swimmingly - but after a while, I was only at 30% - so decided to just leave it.
Today I brought my 3TB Seagate externall hdd (NTFS) and plugged it into the USB port in the front and using the web interface / File Station - I 'moved' a bunch of videos from the 3TB to QNAP. Has this happened to anyone else? Any guidance would be appreciated.So I have a TS-431P for some time now working fine with 3 non-RAID disks just hosting a variety of videos / photos / etc. All workstations are up-to-date with all Windows and AutoCAD patches, service packs and updates, as is the server. Files are shared on a healthy Windows 2008 R2 server. All of our machines are running Windows 7. But these articles are from 2012 and I would have thought that Autodesk would have found a solution for AutoCAD 20, which are the versions we are using. I have seen articles that mention SMB 2.1 and some trouble with similar issues. and noon each day, we don't have to recreate anything from scratch. The BAK files are gone too.įortunately we back up each night. And between that and restoring from Shadow Copies made at 7:00 a.m. And it's not just the DWG files that go missing. When they went back to look at the original file it was gone. to save a file they had been working on to new location. But we do notice the files disappearing right after they are saved.
There doesn't appear to be any rhyme or reason. However, on three or four occasions, Excel files that have been XRef-ed in DWG files have also gone missing right after they were saved. Over the past month or so, AutoCAD users have been complaining of files mysteriously disappearing after they have worked in them and then saved them.
